"Ghost of Christmas," Scott Bennett (self-issued)

scottben.jpgReceived this from Larry Karazewski, screenwriter for such films as "Ed Wood" and "The People vs Larry Flynt," and since I loved both these flicks I made sure to listen to his original Christmas song performed by Scott Bennett of Brian Wilson's very accomplished backing band. It's a Christmas ballad with downbeat lyrics about someone having a less-than-happy holiday, and it's well done, particularly the sparse backing consisting mainly of piano and cello. Whether this version ever makes the charts on its own I have no idea, but I'd be willing to bet another version turns up on someone else's Christmas album in the next season or two. Get it at Amazon or iTunes.
